For those who do not know much about Hermes:
Hermes provides the standard black box Sinclair QL with several improvements to its keyboard handling, serial ports adn sound.

Designed to work alongside the ZX8302 ULA, the 8049 acts as a keyboard/ joystick buffer, RS232 receive buffer and sound generator. Some QLs have a 8749 chip, which is the EPROM version of the Intel 8049.

The improvements in Hermes eliminate problems of keyboard bounce (where pressing one key produces multiple characters on screen), a minor improvement to the QL BEEP command (so that fuzzy and random do not alter the pitch of the tone), and massive improvements to serial port handling and reliability.

The improved serial ports support input at up to 19200 baud, as well as different input baud rates on each port (the original 8049 can only handle up to 9600 baud and has the same baud rate for input and output across both ports). If you have Minerva v1.97 or later as your operating system, you can have split output baud rates also.
