Q68 and Easymenu

Post by daniel_baum »

Hi all,

Has anuone tried running Easymenu (from EasyPtr 4) on the Q68?

It seems very reluctant to run. When attempting to run it, it seems to hang for a while, and then shows up in the task list with no display. I have not been able to get it to run from this state.

The only way I've managed to get it to run is to run it is a separate SBASIC. Once it loads, you have to pick it, and then wait, and it will eventually show up and apparently run normally.

I get this result both on the included Q68 SD-Card, and my own, so it seems to be a general problem.

Rgds,

D.

Hi Daniel,

Easyptr 4 will probably default to run in a Hi-Colour mode.

Have you tried the Q68 Hi-Colour modes. DISP_MODE 6 512 x 384 is the fastest Hi-Colour mode.

I do not have any Q68 to try this out... all sold.

If there is a problem with the Q68 SMSQ/E, send the details of the problem to me via PM and I will forward them to Wolfgang Lenerz. Or post the problem in the QL-Users list both Wolfgang and Marcel read the list.

I have sent Wolfgang an email to establish if there is a bug in the Q68 SMSQ/E.

Hi Derek,

I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know.

A couple more details:

- The other EasyPtr apps work fine.
- EasyMenu works fine on SMSQ/E 3.32 on QPC2, so the problem seems to be limited to the Q68.

Meanwhile, everything else that I've tried seems to work perfectly well.

Thanks,

D.

Any other native hardware to try? SGC?

No, the Q68 is the first hardware "QL" that I've owned since I had a real QL a very long time ago. Since then I've only used software emulations.

HI Daniel,

Here is the reply from Wolfgang:
Wolfgang wrote: Hi Derek,

Easymenu runs on the Q68. It just takes a VERY long time to load (1-3 mins depending on the screen mode). Just be patient. Once loaded, it runs ok.

I think that Easymenu is a compiled program, do you know whether the source code is available for it?

Tested in modes 1,4,7.

Regards

Wolfgang

NB: please let people know that they can ask those questions directly of me through the mailing list.
