CTL plug type

Post by actualreality »

Good morning everyone.

It's been a way overdue project, but i'd like to make a conversion cable for the QL so i can use my existing Atari style 9 pin joysticks.

I bought some female 9 pin din connectors to solder the cable to, and a fully wired BT extension cable (6 pins)

I'm sure what you know what i am about to type - the BT plug doesnt fit the socket. Assume it's obviously similar, but not right what i have - can anyone point me in the right direction of the right plug?

Thanks
Regards
Darren

Unfortunately, these are extremely hard to find.

The correct ones were listed a short while back on sellmyretro.com - see:

http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/details/2650

Alas, I just happened to come across those two. The Serial Ports use the BT 630W connector, but I don't know the part number for the Joystick ports.

I have one more here, but it is missing one of the tiny metal pins :(

The serial ports use style 630W. The joystick ports use style 630A. These are still manufactured and in use by some european companies for internal interconnects. As for where to get them :) Good luck!

I guess this should be the correct one:

The 631 is dissimilar to the 630 because it has a different key on the back preventing it being inserted into a 630 socket.

Those are the right hand ones (for serial ports) - the left hand ones are:

http://uk.farnell.com/pro-signal/a172/p ... /dp/916559

We will see if they are the correct ones when actualreality gets the ones they bought on ebay - if so, I might just buy the remaining stocks from Farnell (even if they are white)

I seem to remember mine being ahem! Modified with a Stanley knife

Warning - using a Stanley knife is dangerous blah blah blah don't do it without suitable supervision from an adult, medical kit and a handy phone.

Hi all

Finally received the plugs - key on the correct side, but still seem too big to go in smoothly.

Might get some sandpaper on it and let you know how it goes - but at the moment it's a non-starter

(and yes I've tried with the cable on the plug fully crimped and also fully crimped with no cable :) )

regards
Darren

Well keep a set of pins, and you can have the connector from me which is missing at least one of the pins :)
