Sermouse adapter - Solved!
Sermouse adapter - Solved!
I'm making an adapter to connect a PC serial mouse to the QL, but the Internet is not so full of information about.
The SER2 port supplies 12V (on pin 6). Should I connect also these 12V to the DB9 mouse plug in order to supply power to the mouse or not?
If yes, where exactly?
Thankds in advance

Re: Sermouse adapter
I solved.
A) The 12V must not be connected.
B) The pin 4 from SER2 (DTR out) must not be connected to the corresponding DTR pin on DB9 plug, but to the pin 7.
Now my adaptor works I made a wiring scheme: please feel free to utilize it if you need:

Rather late, but I found your post re Mice. I was in the same situation as you a while ago.
Here are my findings about serial Mice, actually my `Genius Mouse' needs to be powered from +12V.

Further interesting read on serial line, rather didactic here,

EDIT, plus this, @Dilwyn's site,

Hope this helps.

even if I solved and my mouse doesn't need the 12V imput, thank you very much for your important information. Your topic and findings are very interesting and I'm going to study them.
I hope you found my Sermouse connection scheme (previously linked). It's a very little thing, but it might be useful somehow.
Re: Sermouse adapter - Solved!
Cristian in viewing your Sermouse adapter I remembered I bought a Mersey Mouse kit and just by luck I found the documentation still tucked inside my QL Users Guide. See attached.

Hi Cristian,
Whenever I see your drawings, I am jealous of your art skills, my drawings are more like this. What tools do you you use to make them? Tomas
