Hi.
Regarding ROM cartridges.
If I plug 1 into my QL and it transpires the cartridge is not for a ql - do I damage my ql?
What if the cartridges are for a tonto?
I've only had the ql 1 week and am loathe to break it.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
Rom cartridges.
Re: Rom cartridges.
All of the lines except ground are 5V safe, so even if the pinout is different there's nothing that would damage your QL or the Rompack. There's a standard to the way Sinclair linked power and ground to plug in devices, so there's a very remote chance of that kind of issue.
Re: Rom cartridges.
Thanks very very much Dave.
It's good to know I won't be able to damage the QL.
I've got some ROM's coming, at least 1 of which is labelled such that I believe it is for a QL.
Some others are labelled with game names too, which I'm hoping are more likely to be QL than TONTO or OPD.
At least I can try without fear of explosion
A part of me hopes that even if the others are TONTO, the fact that the hardware between a QL and Tonto are the same in quite a few respects means they'll work in a QL.
Still it's not much of a gamble and it does seem as though at least I get 1 QL ROM.
Again, many thanks for taking the time to answer,
Rob
