I got the message you sent.

The messages remain showing in your outbox until they're read by the recipient, I believe.

Ah that explains it then :) I just thought they stayed in the outbox for a while before moving to sent.

Yes, that is the system used by this type of forum software. It is the same on other forums that also use this forum software.

If a recipient has left his or her settings on the default settings and has entered a valid email address, he/she will receive a notification email similar to this as well:
Hello 1024MAK,

You have received a new private message from "Derek_Stewart" to your account
on "The Sinclair QL Forum" with the following subject:

Re: PMs Not Sending

You can view your new message by clicking on the following link:

<link to message>

You have requested that you be notified on this event, remember that you
can always choose not to be notified of new messages by changing the
appropriate setting in your profile.

-- Thanks, QL Forum Admin Team.
If the recipient does not open the PM, it will stay in your outbox. On another forum I have one that is a year old because the person I sent it to has not logged in and opened it.

Hi,

That sound a good feature, allowing the sender to see if the message is read or not.

I thought I was going something wrong.

The upside, I have read all the FAQs...

It also means you can retract a message if your recipient hasn't read it yet - a feature I wish email had.
