Re: Treasure trove
Some of you will be heartily sick of hearing about my treasure trove experiences. Yet there are some salutary lessons to be learnt which Id like to share. (Fools learn from own experience; the wise learn from the experience of others.) The 50kg of cables I bragged about were nowhere to be found! It...

Re: Treasure trove
Regarding the "Italian translation" above, let me just clarify. There are a number of non-English speaking "QL community" members. From some of the messages I got, it was clear that they must be using some translation software. Presumably they also translate English back into Ge...

Re: Treasure trove
And here is the Italian translation of the above, courtesy Google Translate. Please enjoy :) Patience, boys. Ive dug deep today. There's stuff here Id forgotten that I've ever had, even though its starting to get back to me, little by little. To give an idea, I found about 15 mice! Not the creepy c...

"No doubt there will be piles of microdrives and floppies (though I wont be getting rid of original floppies for licensed software I still use). I never played games, so their wont be many of those. Among items I no longer want are Prospero Pascal with comprehensive manual and ROM, and stuff li...

Re: QL's external MDV port
Just test and It works ;) Well the Speccy MD can't read a QL MD but...If we format an MD on a QL the Speccy Drive can read it and...write to it! So It means that a WCOPY MDV1_ to MDV3_ seems works perfectly ;) Well at the end the MDV SAVE routine fail to check the last file written but...the program...

Re: Aurora somewhere?
I will likely forward them onto someone else better able to complete them than I will be in the next long time. Things happened here and my world got very small and frankly this and everything else just wasn't important any more. And don't forget the parallel preservation program (Italian) about th...

Re: QL SER2 PROBLEMS (HERMES)
Hi Simon, The Baud Rate = 0 in the QTPI was supposed to overide the built in maximum of 9600 Baud. Setting the QTPI Baud Rate to 0 allowed higher Baud Rates set from Superbasic / Sbasic than 9600 Baud. As QTPI only allowed the standard QL Baud Rate of 9600 Baud Max. The higher DTE Baud rate allowed...

Re: QL SER2 PROBLEMS (HERMES)
Hi Simon, I have found a Baud rate of 19200 too high for reliable data connection with Hermes, even though the manual and designer said so. The Hermes chip is a debugged 8049 compatiable replacement, but I used to have problems when I ran a BBS on a QL with Hermes. Super Hermes cured all this. I th...
