Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

The only way I have learned to do this myself is the simpler method Nasta describes above - I make a chart of inputs and outputs. Everything after that is magic. I really do need to get an education! I went to one of the best Unis in the world, and all taught me was to make a chart of inputs and ou...

Re: OS/CPU differences...

From my limited experience, the GC/SGC (GC) boots first from it's EPROM (usually marked (S)GC 2.**). Then, GC copies the Sinclair ROM into the GC RAM. From there, the GC then modifies the Sinclair ROM to put jumps to GC EPROM addresses?? (Note: Prob. GC switches the address bits for the EPROM and RA...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

And another way to obtain some cat fur: Do it like Miracle's originals do - Use the native video logic and 8-bit video RAM, at least for a start. This would be much slower and crappier to design - and also prevent highter resolution/color depth, but keep compatibility and software the same. (And so...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....

Dave, Ah, so the Altera is there just for the ROM copying(/ZX8301/2?). That's interesting. As for the Video, the ZX8301 takes over the bus, reads the 8-bit video data, then releases the bus (I'm assuming) Two ways to do it :- * Emulate the ZX8301, just with a 32-bit bus. * Add a Dual Port RAM for th...

Normally true, especially obsolete components. It's just MC1377P that came first time.

Or mayble Google UK has got a better hit to noise ratio than Google USA! :D

Re: MC1377P datasheet and functionality...

Just googled for 'M1377P' - First and second items returned are pukka datasheets for M1377P...?

However a section for datasheets would be useful.

Re: Replacement video

- supplies the master clock to the QL (that's mostly just dividing the 15MHz quartz clock by 2) \=> Simple enough - D-Type unless yo - DRAM refresh control \=> Not required as Dave's prototype doesn't need DRAM refresh - Bus transceiver control (direction, expansion port, ROM port) \=> Just logic ga...
