Re: New to QL. Wanting to write from QL to SD (type) card directly.
Welcome back to the QL world - if you are going to use Microdrive cartridges just make sure that the felts are in good condition - unlikely at this age unless they are replaced... I bought a QUBIDE interface on sellmyretro from ZAXXON (it has 512K RAM as well as a bonus to use more advanced QL softw...

Re: Random hardware ideas!
@christian - like the picture - mine looks very similar at the mo with an SD card IDE in an old MD case on the left and two Spectrum Md's on the right.... The PI connected to the cartridge port was one I have been musing in the wrong threads - sorry guys... if you see the work that the BBC tube peop...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....
Sorry yes - I will start a new thread... was meant to support the idea of a device on the cartridge port! For both old and new users... RPI totally optional...

Re: Fun things to do with an MC68EC020....
I would certainly like to get a TKII / RTC cartridge - now if it had a way of adding a plug and play mouse of some kind it would be ideal... but, we could address that with something easy and cheap for the actual serial port I suppose. I am trying to find a way to use my SERIAL mouse at the moment.....

Re: Website
Maybe its time to get the QL's internet and TCP/IP stack sorted then we wouldn't need Windows or Linux for secure computing with their associated updates - let's face it who's going to spear phish the QL community - even the NSA probably don't have QDOS/68000 programmers...

Re: Using ZX Microdrives on the QL
Tomas, Sorry the ULA replacement comment was intended for my fourth 'faulty drive' that I cannot get to even recognise a cartridge - it just stops with microdrive not found (without restoring the ratchet or a new roller and plastic wheel of course it will never work as it has the dud roller swapped ...

Re: Using ZX Microdrives on the QL
Hi Tomas The ratchet was to stop a loop forming when the cartridge was inserted - once it is it moves the little ratchet out the way - you can just about make out the toothed bottom in the photo and of course on the diagram from the service manual. ratchet.jpg I assumed the roller was damaged initia...

Re: Using ZX Microdrives on the QL
The picture below shows where I took the measurements (in ohms) - I assume they are the correct positions as I don't have a head pinout. 04-083529 34660 Broken Red = Erase = 90.8 85.8 87.6 Blue = Track 1? 14.6 13.7 14.3 Green = Track 2? 14.3 13.9 13.8 While looking again in detail I noticed that thi...

Re: Using ZX Microdrives on the QL
I seem to have spent almost all day on this issue and written about five draft posts... Long and short of it my long cable I had made had become intermittent from all the plugging and unplugging so most of my findings were less than useful or reliable... Both my drives (03466) no stamped number just...
