Re: Anyone with a psu for Microperipherals Floppy Interface?

Ok... Here's the deal: I just looked at the manual of the Microperipherals interface/drives. It's actually the 6-pin din that is meant for the psu and the 5-pin din for the second drive (I had the impression that it was the opther way around). More importantly the 6-pin connector for the psu is for ...

Thanks for the info QLvsJAGUAR :) I already got a deal with a Finnish buyer. The price range seems right.

Re: Anyone with a psu for Microperipherals Floppy Interface?

Yes, although you will still need a lead to convert a 5.25" power connector to a floppy disk power connector..
Yes, I was planning on a diy molex-to-DIN8 -adapter :)

Haven't really tested anything yet, but stumbled across this:

Seems to be pretty handy for a retro enthusiast like me :D And is definitely not expensive...

Re: Anyone with a psu for Microperipherals Floppy Interface?

Ok, that's what I was afraid of. It means I have to get two separate psus for the drives. I really don't think a standard atx psu is an elegant option, sorry.

Re: Anyone with a psu for Microperipherals Floppy Interface?

True for standard 3.5" drives.
I opened up the Microperipherals 1. drive and both yellow (5v?) and red (12v?) are connected (see attached image). Should I be able to use the drive with only 5 volts then? Sorry for being a pita ;)

Re: Anyone with a psu for Microperipherals Floppy Interface?

Another tip: as I assembled for my QL a double disk-drive system, for power supply I used a small wall-block psu with 5 volt output that is the only voltage needed by disk drives: I cut out from an old PC power supply two floppy drive power plugs and I used it to create a new psu :D It works fine! ...
