Re: Naive question about SCART connection on TV

Hi everyone, Thanks for your various replies. This is more complicated than I imagine. I should also correct something I said earlier. My TV does not allow me to manually select between SCART (composite) and SCART RGB. It simply has a SCART source, so I assume it relies on getting the right signals...

Re: Problem with QL

IC's 19, 20 and 21 are not likely to be faulty if the machine is managing to complete it's memory test. And the heat rise in the relatively short time it takes to do a memory test, will not increase the internal temperature of these 74LSXXX series chips by very much. If a heat sensitive chip is thou...

Re: Getting My QL working - what to do .....

With regards to the displayed video image when using the SCART lead that you have. I have a SCART lead that came with a QL that i bought. When connected to my LCD TV, it produces exactly the image that you describe (and later show in a photo). I bought a new SCART lead from this eBay seller: retroco...

Re: All RAM chips destroyed??

In that case, I suggest you buy some suitable replacement 74LS257 and 74LS245 ICs and some turned pin DIL sockets. Then cut each pin of the existing chips as close to the body as possible. Then it is far easier to desolder the pins. Fit the sockets and then try the new chips ;) Note that IIRC, one m...

Re: Naive question about SCART connection on TV

Most TVs support RGB video signals on their SCART connectors. If there is more than one SCART connector, then you may find that only one supports RGB video signals. The biggest problem with modern-ish TVs, is that they have automatic input detection. This uses the control signal pins on the SCART co...
