Re: ULA ZX8301 - TV Picture Capabilities
It almost seems to make more sense to replicate the operation of the Aurora but in an FPGA that could be offered as a plug in replacement or plug in card ?
You could design it from the get go for VGA / DVI / HDMI output.

Re: Microdrive Unit Design
I would say the socket could introduce the possibility of some additional electrical noise, and possibly some noise due to the (all be it small) vibrations of the motor, no matter how good and tight the socket is.

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL
So very true Peter - what does a pi give you that you can't get / do already...
If you got Bluetooth running on a QL - what would you use it for ?

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL
A task co processor would be something you can offload work to. I didn't want to call it coprocessor, as that to me implies the much closer coupling in an FPU or MMU for instance, and the pi won't give you that. It would be possible to give the pi a to do list and some data and let it get on with it...

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL
What would be the end goal of connecting a Raspberry pi (zero ?) to the QL ? I see several possibilities: Wifi Bluetooth HDMI screen output Numerous SPI / I2C / 1 Wire / UART interfaces and other GPIO Storage device Task Co processor The main issue would appear to be who could write drivers for all ...

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL
Looking at the speccynext web site, they moved away from using the Raspberry Pi to provide hdmi output, and now seem to have the hdmi connector directly on board and driven by the FPGA. They still retain the 40 pin connector though, as the pi could be used for all sorts I guess... There are some hur...

Re: BASIC: Returning non-scalar values from Procs
It's a distant memory, but wasn't the MEM device from Simon Goodwin's DIY toolkit capable of some fairly impressive memory manipulation? I still haven't found all my old magazine cut outs, but I remember using it as some sort of RAM buffer for a data collection device a long while ago - nothing flas...
Re: Q68 page
Not sure if this is the right place to ask such a question, but is the I2C interface on the Q68 available through a trap call mechanism, like the one on Minerva ?
Or is it accessible only as a direct hardware port at the current time?
BTW - the manual looks excellent
