Re: Hello from South Africa

Warm welcome - if you are a Linux user there is a new release of uQLx which works on modern versions and does a lot!

Re: QLAN-USB Adapter - working prototype...

Ohhh market competition that should drive down prices nicely... :)

Now I need a magazine to get reviews of the two options to decide which one to buy...

Re: Microdrive felt pads (again...)

Dave Marling still lists 'new' cartridges for sale that are refelted: http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/details/microdrive-cartridge-x4--_-zx-spectrum-tested-and-working-9909 so he may still offer a refelt service for old ones? I was told he had issues with supplying pads generally due to how fiddly ...

Re: QLAN-USB Adapter - working prototype...

Martin

Thanks for the prompt reply - I'm sure as uQLx and ZEsarUX seem to be under active development (include source) serial support should not be an issue on the Linux end - as of course I am one of THOSE users - without a beard though, in case the stereotype is flashing into peoples brains..

Re: QLAN-USB Adapter - working prototype...

Am I correct in thinking that I would need a ROM copy of TKII on the real QL to allow this to be used due to timing and/or will the built in QL networking software allow some functionality for software transfer at least? It sounds ideal as I am currently using a serial port or removing my QUBIDE SD ...

Re: Microdrive felt pads (again...)

Just procrastinating on doing any real work and spotted this: http://www.mutant-caterpillar.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=75&products_id=4208 I have not used these as I got mine from Dave Marling - I understand he has stopped supplying them directly now: http://www.sellmyretro.com/offer/deta...

Re: QL Homepage Is Back!

Dilwyn, Take a great deal of pride in the fact that people like me have found your work invaluable in getting back into the QL. The Spectrum Next may get a QL mode while ZEsarUX is adding QL functionality - this is a time of growth and prosperity that is possible only because your well cared for see...

Re: Which video output do you use? Why?

You asked why - because a QL RGB to SCART cable on my CRT TV produces a pretty authentic and clear display... I can then use Mode 4 or Mode 8 depending on what I want. I struggled with just the UHF for a long time...

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL

Interesting you chose the full size PI rather than the smaller rPI0w is that so that you have the Ethernet port (rather than just WiFi) and slightly more power in the CPU? I agree with the idea of a mini backplane just need to leave physical room for the IDE cable to be plugged in and out so the PO ...

Re: Discussion about connecting RASPI to QL

Both, You may also wish to look at the proposal for the ZX Spectrum Next http://www.specnext.com to add a rPI0 as a co-processor - if you are not already aware this is a Kickstarter to get an FPGA Spectrum remake that looks really nice (very QL like keys) - only 8 days to go but, it has blasted to o...
