Re: QL hardware info needed!

Trump card Version 1 (PAL1=1v4, PAL2=2v0)

$1C000-$1DFFF = WD1772 chip select (A1-A0 = A1-A0)
$1E000-$1FFFF = 74F175 clock (D3-D0 = side/motor/ds1/ds2)

I assume Trump card Version 2 uses the second 74F175 (4-bit register) for ds3/ds4.

Re: Announcement - new QL Interface

...only the MD driver is needed in 128k mode for let original titles that was made for 128k QL's only can works properly. That fix for v2.17c is easy to do (ie. once RAM size found for banner, just return if 128K without adding anything). I'll propose change to MK and see if original author is OK w...

Re: Announcement - new QL Interface

I tried a modified version of Trump card v2.17c Eprom which only introduces FLP (like v1.xx). Unfortunately it still would cause problems for fussy 128K programs, the new FLP driver just grabs a little too much memory. Probably why it was never implemented. Trump v1.xx RES_128 is extremely frugal wh...

Re: (Nearly) solved: FuNction which tests if a variable is set

I've had a look at the source code and WMON only does what the documentation says if an OUTLN has been defined. It tries to cater for all cases, without error, but otherwise can produce unexpected results (as mentioned earlier). It doesn't help either that MODE calls no longer always clears all wind...

Re: Announcement - new QL Interface

It is not a bug, it is due to v2.17c Eprom handling of RES_128. The original v1.xx Eprom checks RAM size, if <=128K it just links in the FLP driver, if >128K it links in everything. The problem is v2.17c just links in everything, regardless of RAM size found. But even if the v2.17c code is modified ...

Trump card addressing

I see from logic of Trump card PAL 1 (1v4) access to WD1772 is assigned to area $1C000-$1DFFF. Has anyone any info of further decode in this area? More to the point; would incidental access to $1C060 & $1C064 (ie. for proof of GC/SGC existence) potentially cause upset to FLP hardware/driver? Add...

Re: Q68 compatible peripherals on other QL systems

This thread is about information sharing of Q68 hardware details to ensure compatibility of future systems. Maybe we need to collate a database of all the locations every bit of hardware uses? This is less of an issue for the Q68, which has limited expansion potential in its current form. However, ...

Re: Q68 compatible peripherals on other QL systems

I had look at earlier v2.28 disassembly (Gold card 68000 only version) and I can't see anything that would copy a 'Gold' marker to $17D00-$17FFF, just code routines. I'd need to look at closely at SMSQ/E sources to figure out what the comment 'avoid Gold' meant in hwinit_asm. Though I did go through...

Re: Q68 compatible peripherals on other QL systems

Could you explain what you mean? Does the Gold Card have the letters "GOLD" somewhere in hardware? Or just in EPROM? Not in hardware, but something copied from Eprom to $17D00. I'll have to look at disassembly (done back in 2001). I think it may be something only for Gold card v2.28. IIRC...

Re: Q68 compatible peripherals on other QL systems

Do GC/SGC have something? Yes, SMSQ/E is careful to avoid a 'Gold' : ; loader tables mod_table dc.l sms.base-4,$4000 ; first slice dc.l $4200-4,$c000 ; second slice dc.l $10020-4,$17d00 ; third slice (avoid 'Gold') dc.l 0 Though I don't know what may use it.
